5th & 6th Visit Legislatures in Cheyenne

The 5th and 6th Grade classes had the privilege this past week to visit the Wyoming Capital in Cheyenne where they performed for the state legislatures and visited historical landmarks. The students sang patriotic songs such as "You're a Grand Old Flag" and "Amazing Grace," and the 6th Grade recited "Concord Hymn" to all the assembled House of Representatives and Senate of the State of Wyoming. While the actual Capital facilities are under renovation, the students were able to visit the temporary facility as a part of their performance. They sang under the direction of Ms. Koci and with the accompaniment of Dr. Wagner along with the assistance of gracious parent chaperones.

Apart from their three performances, the whirlwind trip included a tour of the Wyoming  Supreme Court, a dinner with legislators wherein the students could share their experiences about our school and their lives in Jackson, and an exciting visit to Chik-fil-a, although some of the students admitted they preferred the school lunches! One highlight of the trip was their visit to the Wyoming State Museum, which had an interactive topographical map the students could manipulate and which they greatly enjoyed. The 6th grade American History students even took some notes to share as a class upon their return to school.
