Students in Jackson Hole Classical Academy’s Christmas Choir practiced every Wednesday afternoon this fall rehearsing a special music selection for the Ceremony of Carols on December 19th. There are twenty-four students, mostly from the Academy, in grades 2 though 11. The rehearsals, led by Mrs. Lisa Landis, build upon basic music skills with an emphasis on healthy singing, expression, rehearsal and performance technique, and movement. Singers have learned part-singing while exploring repertoire from a variety of cultures and genres.
The students look forward to Wednesday afternoons where they have a tasty snack before singing in a fun, supportive environment.
Mrs. Landis says, "One of the best things about conducting the Christmas choir is seeing the progress students make from the beginning of the season up to the Ceremony of Carols Concert. Each year, a different group of students join the choir, and it is wonderful to bring their unique set of voices into harmony to make beautiful music!"
The Ceremony of Carols will take place at 5:30 PM on Thursday, December 19 at the Presbyterian Church of Jackson Hole.
