From early morning to late afternoon, bulldozers, motor graders, excavators, and dump trucks move purposefully across the Academy campus. To be sure, Bouma has made great progress. Of late, they have planted an assortment of aspens, maples and dogwoods that now line the parking lot, and have laid fresh, natural sod, as well. On the south side of campus, Bouma continues the grading process, which will ensure proper, sustainable runoff and drainage. Bouma’s thoughtful construction process mirrors the Academy’s dedication to local environmental and safety compliance, and lays the foundations for new, exciting developments for our school.
The infrastructure for our new fieldhouse arrived on Monday, October 14, 2019. Bouma anticipates its completion this winter. The new fieldhouse will feature a full-size basketball and volleyball court, a fully-equipped weight room, a professional-grade kitchen, and spacious locker rooms. This indoor space will indeed prove a blessing for both JH Classical Academy and the greater valley community.
The new outdoor playground will arrive imminently. Made by Danish playground designer Kompan, our playground will consist of a Cocowave, Parkour, Playtower, Somersault Bars, Swings – and eventually – a Track Ride. This playground will be a joy for our students to use. Constructed in organic Robinia, a compact wood stronger than Oak, the set will also be of a beautiful, mountain modern aesthetic. The first shipment arrives this month – in October – and will include all but the Track Ride, which reaches campus at a later date.
We’re grateful for Bouma’s diligence, and for the steady patience our families have portrayed throughout our campus’ development.
