Additions & Admissions

The addition of 9^th grade is an exciting step for our community. Faculty are working hard on finalizing syllabus for Humane Letters, Geometry, Biology, Latin, Geometry, Art, and Music courses. More information regarding our 9^th grade will be available early January.

 

Another addition to our school program includes an optional full-day kindergarten. Kindergarten families can choose between their children staying until 1:00 or 3:20 PM. After the 1:00 PM dismissal, students staying for the afternoon will have rest time, science, history and story time. Art and music will continue to be in the morning so all of our students can learn from the fine arts.

 

Personalized tours are also a great way to learn about our Classical model. In order to schedule a tour contact Mrs. Lisa Landis at llandis@jhclassical.org or call at 307-201-5040. After a school visit, applications are online at owlnet.jhclassical.org.

 

Once an application has been sent, families are invited to schedule a student interview and assessment. The assessment serves to show how best the school can serve the student as his or her current abilities. Mrs. Friess says, “We welcome all students to join our school. Our curriculum is the same rich literature, math, Latin, etc. for all students. We do not test for admission into the school, but placement, so that we can best serve incoming students.”

Starting in 6^th grade, Miss Paul the Dean of Students, interviews incoming students to get to know them on a personal level and hear about their excitements and questions about entering a new school. The coordinator of admissions, Mrs. Landis, says, “Through the admissions process, we take the time to get to know each family individually and explain the importance of creating a partnership between parent, teacher, and student. We become familiar and begin to develop relationships with students through interviews, interactive assessment, and shadow days. We strive to bring together a cohesive student body that can grow intellectually and morally.”
