Parents

Welcome, Parents!

At Jackson Hole Classical Academy, we acknowledge that a child’s learning falls under the primary responsibility of his/her parents. The Academy – both its faculty and staff – is, therefore, a partner with a child’s parents. Together, we strive to cultivate students that lead lives of intellectual and moral excellence.

The primary way in which parents are encouraged to be involved in their child’s academic learning is by supporting his or her journey through the Academy. This includes: providing a distraction-free study environment, being attentive to the student’s study habits attitude towards learning, and quality of work, and understanding the Academy’s scholastic expectations.

Parents may want to communicate frequently with their child’s teachers. This is certainly welcome and can be helpful for parents in developing their understanding of the Academy’s classical liberal arts vision. It is also helpful for parents to share important information with our teachers on how their child is approaching the curriculum at home and whether their child is experiencing difficulty. Email is the best means for this conversation. In-person meetings, when necessary, should be by scheduled appointment.

The Academy is especially grateful for the many parents that volunteer throughout the year. Indeed, we have a wonderful community at Jackson Hole Classical Academy. Parents interested should submit questions or ideas (these, too, are always welcome) to Mr. Ian Landis, Assistant Head of School.

School Uniforms

At the Academy, we desire to develop a community of learners dedicated to the highest standards of academics and deportment. To this end, our dress code fosters a learning environment focused on true individuality, on substantive self-expression offered by healthy dialogue and the development of the life of the mind. When our students put on their uniform, they are immediately connected to our culture of learning and our specific expectations. To our larger community, our uniforms serve as a signature of our pride of purpose and standard of excellence.

Our desire is not to squash students’ individuality. Rather, we want to secure their commitment to a community of learners and remove distractions such as the latest fads, conversations about modesty, or even social competition.

We ask not only for the student's commitment to this concept, but for the parent’s as well. Our dress code helps our students fix their attention on what is important, and ultimately, to find meaningful mediums of self-expression through art, science, music, history and all that that is included in our liberal arts program
