Dr. Joe Rudolph
Dear JH Classical Families,

As the snow flies and the cold, dark winter months begin it may seem that springtime, let alone the next academic year is a long way off. But it is, nevertheless, time to look forward to this coming Fall. As many of you are aware, we are graduating our first senior class this coming spring: the first, we hope, of many cohorts of young men and women, going forth into the world with the strong intellectual and moral formation that we provide at JH Classical. In order to share some information about the courses, programs, and faculty in our young-but-excellent (and growing) high school program, we are hosting (in person and virtually) a short, informational event on Thursday 19 November from 4:30–5:30 PM.
As the Dean of Faculty, I cannot stress enough what an exciting time it is for our school and how glad I am to be a part of it right now. I have observed so many content-rich classes taught by expert faculty who possess not only a deep passion for learning, but a real care for the student as a whole person. I can honestly say that both in observing the classes of other teachers and teaching my own classes that our high school is home to a culture of excellence that is a rare treasure: never –– and I write this having taught at both the secondary and collegiate levels –– have I seen the level of across the board engagement from an entire faculty student body. In our cynical and pragmatic world it is amazing to see and participate in an institution where teachers and students love and actively seek truth and where test scores and college and career preparation (very important, to be sure!) do not represent the end-all and be-all of the educational program.

The event will include presentations by Head of School Polly Friess, Dean of Students Sam Lunz, and several high school teachers. After the presentations faculty and administration, as well as some current high school students, will be available for a Q&A session.

While this event is especially geared toward 7th and 8th grade families, we welcome and encourage families from any level to attend.
