Jackson Hole Classical Academy’s new campus for Fall 2019 is in full motion!
The new facility will be a substantial upgrade. Today’s 13,000 square feet, which includes our half-court gym/multi-purpose space, will be replaced with almost 18,000 square feet of instructional and office space, plus a full-size gym in an 11,700 square foot field house. The 80-acre setting gives our great institution plenty of room to grow and open space to enjoy for generations.
Eight customized modular structures (4 lower school, 4 upper school, with enclosed connectors for easy transit between classes) will arrive in June. The building permit is submitted for the classroom, hook-ups to water, sewer, gas, and electric, and will be submitted next week for the field house. Having built over 400 schools (and come in on-time and under-budget on our current school), we are so pleased to have Bouma/Bergman team leading the charge once again.
Coach Lunz is preparing outdoor PE for September, as the field house cannot be finished until October. This permanent asset will one day have turf fields beside it, as well as a permanent playground. This regulation sized basketball and volleyball gym is a facility we hope to make available to the club sports teams in town and to the district schools. Everyone knows how we need practice fields and athletic spaces to better serve our youth in this community.
“All hands-on deck!” will be the rallying cry during the week before Labor Day, if parents and students are willing to help move our furnishings down the road. Faculty can then settle their classrooms over the weekend for a September 3, 2019 first day of school. We would love your help and patience with this process, and will keep you informed of volunteer opportunities.
“All hands-on deck!” is also the rallying cry today, as we all step up to the “Nifty 15” campaign. We need 100% participation in this fundraiser to salute and celebrate the $15 million land and facilities gift from Lynn and Foster Friess. On June 14 we will offer them our deepest thanks at our Field Day luncheon. You’ll be hearing from Marc Anderson and Michael Smerklo soon about that campaign, as we have 6 weeks to make it happen!
We are offering an Open House on Thursday, May 16 to share floor plans of the interim campus and visual renditions of the future campus with you and the public. The Open House is scheduled from 4:30-5:30 PM, right before our 6:00 PM Award Ceremony and Evening of the Arts. Please come and bring friends. We are so eager to grow JH Classical Academy.
Thank you for the significant part you played in helping SF49 pass so that JH Classical Academy could exist – and thrive! This is important, necessary, and fun work.
