Duck Stamp Competition 2019
JH Classical competed in the state-wide Junior Duck Stamp competition again this year with student submissions from the 8th grade students. Jordyn Kantor, Holland Scott, Hanne Somers, and Lucy Sullivan all received honorable mentions for their submissions!
Each year students from all over Wyoming creatively rendered the duck of their choice to be considered for the honor of their work becoming a stamp in the state. The program encourages students to work artistically on their duck, but it also fosters the study of conservation and learning about the environments where the ducks thrive and how to maintain and protect them. Each student selects a species of North American duck to render, creates a name for the piece, and can provide a short quotation with their work to further elucidate the meaning or idea behind the work.
Well done 8th grade ladies! And a special thank you to Elizabeth Birnie for her efforts in the program as well as teachers from across Wyoming!
