7th Grade Service work in Grand Teton National Monument

This Monday, the 7th Grade Class had the incredible opportunity to study and contribute to the environment in Grand Teton National Park. The students spent the morning committed to field work with Miss Paul, observing and studying the very concepts they have been learning all year in Life Science, then deicated the afternoon to volunteer work.

The field work was mostly observation based. They applied this time to identifying plants and animals and investigating what parts of the park would be good for camping. Using their own excperience and their studies, the students were able to base these choices on the impact it would have on the biotic communities in that area.

After lunching in the park, the students spent the afternoon volunteering. They assisted park rangers in clearing paths and moving gravel to construction areas. They were finally driven out by the rainstorm and returned to school drenched but enhilarated.
